NELSON

You gave yourself so freely,
Your heart was warm and kind.
Those who knew you had to love you,
For you were just that kind.

A swell and wonderful human being
Whose smile could make a smile,
And if there was turmoil inside,
You couldn't guess it by a mile.

You searched for love and serenity,
And only wanted peace.
But God knew really
How to make your searching cease.

Have pleasant dreams, Nelson,
And in our hearts we'll keep
All the pleasant memories of you
Before you were slain in your sleep
.
